Joseph Thoreson is the User Experience Architect for the Cab Systems and Environment division at Caterpillar Inc. In his role he defines and maintains standards, methods, and processes for User Experience design in the cab space including specialization in graphical user interfaces for on-board information displays. Joseph is also the lead for UX/UI on the remote operator station within Caterpillar’s remote control and autonomy programs. He received his master’s degree in Cognitive Science from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Prior to joining Caterpillar, Joseph worked as a contractor for the United States Department of Defense and NASA within various human performance programs. This work focused mainly on evaluation of training effectiveness as well as developing multi-modal measures of human performance.
